ONGOING TO THE COMMUNITIES OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS

Care Packs for the Homeless: These packs contain travel sized hygiene items, selected food items, water, and the Gospel of Christ packed in a lightweight backpack for the homeless. Members are encouraged to obtain a backpack from the Family Life Center (FLC) and distribute it to a person in need. Items that are continually being collected are: travel size soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, water bottles, and snacks which can be placed with the backpacks in the FLC.  If you are interested in donating or packing these items, please contact the church office or Missions Committee.

Hattie’s Happenings: Every Wednesday evening, members of CBC travel to Vidor to meet the social and spiritual needs of the emotionally disabled residents of this boarding house. For more information on how you can help out, contact Tommy Kerans at 409-791-4448.

The Hope Center: Financially supported by CBC, the Hope Center is an outreach of the Christian community to women and their families with an unplanned pregnancy. These ladies receive counseling, training, medical assistance, and spiritual guidance to help them make an informed decision to ‘choose life’ for their unborn child and care for him/her after delivery. For information on various ways you can serve, call 409-898-4005.

Christian Care Center in Silsbee and Christian Loving Care Center in Kountze: Both facilities maintain a food bank, clothing closet, and provide financial assistance to the residents of Hardin County. Crestwood supports both of these resources through monthly financial donations and food drives throughout the year. For volunteer opportunities contact the Christian Care Center at 409-385-2237 and Christian Loving Care Center at 409-246-4466.

SEASONAL

Operation Christmas Child:  Since 1993, more than 100 million children in over 130 countries have experienced God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts. In November you can participate by packing a shoebox that will be delivered to a foreign country to local pastors and churches that share the life-changing news of Jesus Christ. To help throughout the year shopping, with packing parties, or many other opportunities through Samaritans Purse, contact Debbie Poole at 409-673-6438.

AND BEYOND…

Prison Ministries:  Periodically throughout the year events take place that minister to the incarcerated. The One Day with God camp is an annual event that helps reestablish and strengthen the bond between the parent behind bars and their child through forgiveness and reconciliation. Prayer and Share is a follow-up visit that helps encourage and strengthen the inmate's relationship with God, while The Winning Edge is a two day evangelism event held at all prisons. To aid in this ministry, contact Brian Chisholm at 409-201-8405.

Eight Days of Hope:  Is a faith based organization that focuses on showing Jesus’s love to others by using gifts and talents to help people rebuild after natural disasters. Entire families are encouraged to participate. Lodging and food are free. As opportunities arise, they will be made available through the web site.

Buckner Shoes for Orphan Soles:  New shoes are collected once a year in conjunction with and area wide drive providing new shoes size 2t- 9 youth that are distributed to kids in need. Contact: Jimmy Hoy 409-299-0096.

Texas Baptist Men (& Women): This mission helps Texas Baptist Churches as they lead men and women into a love relationship with Jesus Christ that will thrust them and their families into a lifestyle of missions and ministry that fulfills the great Commission. There are many areas of opportunity available, in particular, disaster relief. To help, contact Linda Teel 409-782-3900.

Partnering in with Buckner in Penitas:  Once each summer people of all ages travel to the border of Texas and Mexico to share life and talents through training skill classes, shoe and hygiene donations, VBS, building chicken coops and houses. Future mission trip plans will be communicated as they develop. To assist in planning or to join a trip, contact Judy Stanley at 409-673-0358.
